Los Angeles has a population of over 4 million people making it the second biggest city in the United States after New York City. LA is home to plenty of major film studios and record labels, hosting the annual Academy Awards, Primetime Emmy Awards, and the Grammy Awards. Los Angeles also has nearly 850 museum and art galleries, with some of the most notable ones including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Getty Center, and the Natural History Museum. With its big-name labels and its up-and-coming stars living in the city, it’s no surprise that the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) is a notable university. It is considered one of the country’s Public Ivies, meaning its offered education is equivalent to those of the Ivy leagues. UCLA is not only known for its education, but also for its athletic programs, with over 128 national championships and 117 NCAA team championships.
